ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
On Friday, Wrexham-born player Davies revealed that his time with the Welsh outfit is coming to an end. WHAT DAVIES SAID
He wrote on Instagram: "My time at my hometown club has come to end, safe to say weâve been on a special journey. Not in my dreams when I joined back in Covid did I think Iâd be leaving here 5 seasons later with it being a Championship club. With unbelievable achievements right along the way. I want to say thank you to all the players and staff that have helped me on the journey. It was a special group of lads the whole time. I special thank you @vancityreynolds and @robmcelhenney for changing the feel around the whole town. Long may the Wrexham journey continue. #ONEOFOUROWN @wrexham_afc."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Davies played 142 games and scored 37 goals for Wrexham as he helped them win the National League in 2023 and earn promotion to League One in 2024. But following their promotion to the Championship, he is surplus to requirements – which appears to also be the case for team-mate Steven Fletcher. But their contributions in reaching the English second tier will not be forgotten by the fans.

WHAT NEXT?
More Wrexham players are expected to leave in the coming weeks, with goalkeeper Mark Howard also departing the club, as Phil Parkinson's men prepare for life in the Championship.
