Leeds United are looking for a striker to replace Chris Wood after the New Zealand international completed a £15m move to Burnley on Monday, and online bookmakers BetVictor have the Yorkshire outfit as the 3/1 favourites to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes before the transfer window slams shut next Thursday.

Whites boss Thomas Christiansen has seen his side score seven goals in their last two matches against Sunderland in the Championship and Newport County in the Carabao Cup in the absence of Wood, who netted 30 goals in all competitions for the club last season.

However, the Spaniard is likely to bring in a centre-forward to replace him before August draws to a close and he could certainly do a lot worse than launch a bid for Rhodes, who the Daily Mail reported as a possible transfer target for Leeds on August 19.

The 27-year-old is a proven prolific goalscorer at this level and it was his four-year spell with Blackburn Rovers that was particularly impressive, when he netted 83 goals in 159 Championship appearances.

However, he hasn’t been a regular in the starting line-up for the Owls this term, although he staked his claim for a spot in the team this weekend by scoring twice in the 3-2 defeat against Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
